MAKILALA, Cotabato, March 13, 2017 (SPRINT NEWS) -- Some six armed men suspected to be elements of Guerilla Front 72, Far South Mindanao Regional Command, Komisyon ng Mindanao, CPP-NPA torched another passenger bus plying the Koronadal-Tacurong-Davao Cities route along the Makilala-Tacurong Road at Sitio Bagong Silang, Barangay San Vicente, Makilala town Cotabato Province about nine in the morning today.
Totally razed was Yellow Bus Line (YBL) Unit No. 1888 -- the sixth of the company's buses victimized by arsonists and the eighth in entire Mindanao since November 9 last year when the CPP-NPA started attacking private companies that refused to give in to its extortion demand in the pretext of "revolutionary tax."
Fortunately, none of the driver, conductor and some 30 passengers was hurt in the arson attack -- the 27th in Mindanao and the 30th nationwide since President Duterte assumed office in June 30.
As usual, the arsonists pretended as passengers and boarded the ill-fated bus on its way to Makilala from Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat Province.
Upon reaching Sitio Bagong Silang, the six passengers brought out their hand guns and ordered the driver to turn to a dirt road leading to a secluded area where all those aboard were ordered to disembark before setting the bus on fire.
The six men fled while the blaze was still raging.
Most YBL units plying within South Cotabato and Sarangani Provinces and General Santos City are escorted by soldiers or policemen especially at night fall after five of its units were set on fire one after another by suspected CPP-NPA terrorists starting November 13.
Meantime, policemen and soldiers responding to the incident were cautioned against possible roadside IED blast and/or ambush by CPP-NPA terrorists similar to the deadly waylaid on a PNP crime scene investigation team in Bansalan, Davao del Sur - near Makilala - in March 8.
